Turkey’s freight train carrying humanitarian aid arrives in Afghanistan

(Xinhua) — A Turkish freight train carrying about 750 tons of humanitarian aid has arrived in Afghanistan, the Afghan Red Crescent Society said on Tuesday.
The first train of 750 tons of humanitarian aid from the Turkish Red Crescent Society to the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) arrived at the dry port of Tor Ghundi in western Herat province late on Monday, the ARCS wrote on Twitter.
Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, acting deputy director of the ARCS, Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan Jihad Argin, and other officials witnessed the arrival of the Turkish assistance in the province, about 640 km west of Kabul, sources said. The train consisting of 47 wagons of food, clothing, blankets and healthcare materials left Turkey’s capital Ankara to Afghanistan on Jan. 27, and arrived in the Asian country through Iran and Turkmenistan.
