The Maldives’ Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the curfew in the capital city of Male, local media reported Thursday.
A notice published by Director General of Public Health Maimoona Abu Bakr on Thursday declared the end of the 11:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. curfew, which was put in force on March 4 to contain a surge of COVID-19 cases in the capital city.
Furthermore, preschools, nurseries, daycares, gyms, universities, cinemas, dine-in eateries and running tracks will all be re-opened subject to guidelines by the HPA and relevant government departments.
However, certain restrictive measures will continue such as bans on public gatherings of more than five people, and travel from Male to quarantined islands.
The Maldives has registered over 24,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
