Chairperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the country has been united on the issue of nationality. At a programme organised to administer oath to the ward committee office bearers and members of NCP Bharatpur Metropolitan City here today, Chair Dahal said that all parties had given same voices in the meeting called by the Prime Minister on the border issue. He said, “This is the first time that all political parties have come together in regard with the border issue. It is the matter of pride.” Chair Dahal said, “The Sugauli treaty has clearly named the Mahakali River as the border between Nepal and India. Such historical fact and documents have clearly mentioned about territory of Nepal and India.”
Stating that the border dispute issue appeared as a highly challenging issue before the nation and the party, he assured that the government would handle it effectively. On a different note, he claimed that some regressive and external forces were trying to weaken the NCP and vowed to defend it. As he said, the party meeting scheduled for tomorrow would finalise remaining issues concerning the unification. He was confident that there was a possibility that the party win the by-lection in those place where it earlier had faced a defeat. On the occasion, Chair Dahal administered oath to office bearers and members in all ward committees. Their number was 1,300.
