(Xinhua) — The Libyan Interior Ministry on Monday said that more than 1,400 people have been killed by traffic accidents during the first nine months in 2019. “From January to September of this year, 1,115 traffic accidents have been recorded that killed 1,409 people,” the ministry said in a statement. Moreover, the statement said that a total of 1,481 accidents have injured 3,101 people during the same period. The most common reasons that caused traffic accidents are exceeding the speed limit, inefficiency of vehicles, lack of proper driving skills and attention of the drivers, and driving in inappropriate weather conditions, the statement said. The ministry called on drivers to pay utmost attention while driving and obey traffic laws and rules in order to stay safe and reduce such deadly accidents. In 2018, around 2,500 people were killed in Libya by traffic accidents, according to the ministry. Enditem
