(Xinhua) — A total of seven militants were confirmed dead as clash erupted in Shahjoy district of southern Zabul province on Friday, said an army statement released here Saturday.
The clash flared up after a group of Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Shahjoy district late Friday and the soldiers returned fire, killing seven militants on the spot and forcing the insurgents to flee, the statement said.
